Thrifted a "vintage" Ralph Lauren quarter zip for about 20 bucks the other day. Forest green, purple horse, still has the leather dongle thing on the zipper. Barely used condition. I say "vintage" because I haven't done any actual research on the provenance, I just saw that the tag says "Made in Hong Kong" and is in the old blue and white style, and I know they stopped doing those a while ago.
Anyway I've only had it for just two weeks but I'm already obsessed with it. It's XL and the fit is perfect in the shoulders and chest, sleeves are the ideal length and it drapes over my midsection really well without being baggy. The fabric is thick 100% cotton in excellent condition, and over a business shirt it keeps me very well regulated in this weather. The color goes perfectly with the brown Japanese corduroy slacks I bought about two months ago and I just happen to have a purple tie that I can wear with it to really make the horse pop. I don't remember the last time I was this happy with a find. Usually when I go thrifting, even when I find really nice stuff I feel like I'm settling in some ways - maybe the fit could be better and needs an adjustment, maybe the color is my second choice rather than the first, maybe it's a brand I'm not quite familiar with or there's a slight blemish that I'll have to remove - but this is optimal in every way.
Have you ever found or bought a piece that you were this pleased with?
