I've never thought about this, but after looking at your stock image it does look kind of weird if you unbutton the shirt to show the t shirt underneath. I usually wear white t shirts underneath my flannels or oxford button up shirts to offer some muted color contrast with the shirt that also happens to match with my converse/vans. That said, if you try to wear a white tee under a white dress shirt, the chances that the shades of white are exactly the same are very slim, which ultimately makes it look weird. You need some contrast. To achieve this, wear a different colored button up shirt with a white tee, or just wear a white button up with no white tee underneath.
