This is barely even tangentially related. But, you ever see footage of Japan's surrender? How they're dripped in Edwardian tops & tails. Western fashion. Decades after it had already fallen out of fashion in the West. Are they just idiosyncratic like that? Doing their own thing. Like, his XXS skinny suit shouldn't be judged against contemporary suit fashion in other countries. Japanese suits should be see as separate evolutionary branch that broke away ~130 years ago.
