Cool I was actually thinking of doing one of these.
1) don't bother with fast fashion. there is 1 in a million decent things in zara/uniqlo etc but it's not worth your time wading through it.
2) same with thrift or vintage stores. or bargain hunting online. those hours add up fast if you log them and check. work at mcdonalds or door dash with that time and save the money
3) do not buy retail. used high end designer, when it is OFF trend, so never buy meme hypebeast grailed pieces. buy things that suit you
4) fit is everything. if you arent very tall and skinny you need to find your ideal cut of pants and jackets. it will make a huge difference
5) don't skimp on shoes or boots. good ones last a long time and look good. sneakers are absolutely fucking dog shit and worse than fast fashion quality the last 5 years. get something good
6) wear things more. the more you wear it, the more it grows to your body, gets wear on it and looks lived in and good. sell anything rotting on a hanger its pointless.
7) develop a personal style. trends are for victims. if you just want to buy trends, which is fine if u have a good job u can just go buy all lemaire or all balenciaga and have an always on trend wardrobe and never waste time on "fashion" as a hobby. but if you actually want to express yourself and you don't have a core style, what the fuck are you doing? you are paying to be a victim and looking like a retard because by the time you are up to date on a trend it's already dead. and they have you moving to the next one. don't be a sucker, and be an individual. make your own style and develop it with GOOD pieces.
8) everyone makes mistakes. something that might have suited you is just so so. that's fine. sell it or give it to a friend. do not sit in a house of unworn shit that is all "not bad". only keep the best stuff. That about wraps it up.
