What do I need to care for my boots?
>Old cotton t shirt (one for cleaning, another for applying conditioners)
>Horsehair brush ($10-15)
>Wooden shoe trees ($10-15)
>Light conditioner like Lexol/Bick4/renovateur
>Heavy conditioner (if you live in terrible snow/rain areas) Sno seal/Obernauf LP
>Don't forget that boots need time to dry properly, rotate them and rest them
How do I deal with x stain?
>mud: allow it to dry then brush off
>salt: water and cloth as soon as possible
>saturated wet: allow the boot to dry for a full day, stuff with newspaper
>scuffs and scratches: buff vigorously with horsehair brush
>Should I buy turdsdays/soloshits/doc shitans?
No they are filled with synthetic materials aimed at instant comfort but will not hold up to actual use.

I'm gonna need some recommendations for hiking boots. I've been going strong with Meindl Perfekt. They are built like fucking tanks and the weight reflects that, standing at a whopping 1,220g per boot. Is it possible to find reliable, full leather construction (no goretex shit) hiking boots between 400 and 800g? Budget is not an issue.

Bought these Red Wing Iron Rangers from a UK retailer. Is it normal for there to be scuffed/pealing leather and tacky glue on the seams? There're even some glue drops on the leather away from the seams. I've never seen this on English-made boots.

You guys misled me. A couple of months ago I commissioned a custom made pair of leather boots from this shoe cobbler in Milan I paid 2.5k euros which is like 5k Canadian dollars, I even had to travel 1h to this fucking clinic that scanned my foot to send it to him. Well three weeks ago they finally arrived from Italy. I’ve been too afraid to wear them so thus far they’ve only been collecting dust. Come today and it’s nice and sunny, but I see they have a fine layer of ash like dust on them. Me being an Autist thinking I’ll get some good advice here, browse the archive, stumbling upon shoeshineanon shilling fucking 1930s silent movie shoeshine methods talking about spitting on the boot and rubbing it clean with a cloth. Me not knowing better I do exactly that. Now my boot is completely ruined and has a giant ass spot on the front, even worse it’s suede and it looks all fucking discolored

Winter boot recommendations that are also wearable at other times of the year (ie, not super insulated and ugly)? Obviously a dedicated pair of winter boots would be needed if you live somewhere like Minnesota, but I just want something to withstand a couple inches of snow and not slip all over ice
