As long as you didn’t drink any of the water, or cook with it, or wash your clothes with it, you’ll be fine.

Just re-pipe the place. That is the solution. Get some quotes from 3-5 plumbers. The numbers they give you is how fucked you are. Don't replace it with PEX or you will be back here in 10-20 years.

There are tons of theories for why polyb failed, some say it was the fittings, some say it was manufacturing related, some say it's the water quality (chlorine apparently)Nobody knows, but it's survived this long, it's probably ok.

Do PEX. It is so cheap you can't afford not to.

Any kind of plastic pipe means you are cucked. Enjoy your female breasts hormone water and flooded house and ugly shit wobbly pipes. Get autistic and have straight line pipes. Lovely copper pipes very nice. Oh it costs a tiny bit more? What are you poor? It's plumbing a house one off cost. Aka investment. If pex was 10% of the cost to install ofcopper I'd get it. But it's not it's like 90%.

At this point? If it hasn't blown, it probably won't. Are you on well water? Most of what I heard was that polybutylene was attacked by the chlorine in municipal water, specifically in the elbows where the material was stressed from being formed. Without chlorine it should be fine.

Are they actually recalled or are they just on the banned construction list? I imagine if they're recalled, you should be compensated.

Is there a reason you couldn't use braided flexible pipes for water supply instead of copper or plastic? Like the kind that feed the toilet, but larger diameter?

It seems it was recalled because they slowly disintegrate with the crap they put in town water. As long as you are on a well, you're fine. If you're on town water, you're already fucked so what does it matter.

When Qest begins to leak it's usually just a pinhole, so you can fix it when needed if you're comfortable with that. You can get poly to pex couplings at any box store. You'll need a crimping tool though.

>I've got recalled polybutylene pipes in my 90s home >How fucked am I Not too badly fucked, anon Just sharkbite (or generic) them to PEX when they leak (might have 1 leak every few years)
