this is my first year planting anything. bought these cheapo GOONMILL starters and made a light fixture for them https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CHM473DW/. seems like san diego i can pretty much plant anything at any time, started some tomatoes and a few other things. picrel is my basil which didn't even sprout. ionno what i did wrong

Live in an apartment. Took a tomato seedling from my mom, doing great. It's over a meter tall now. Have a lot of other plants in the apartment, but this one's the favourite for now

Perfect timing, I was wondering who I should ask for advice. I've been germinating citrus seeds whenever I got some (various types: clementines/sweet clems, tangerines, satsumas, whatever's nice and large when I'm at the store), I believe all of these were planted sometime in March. The biggest ones are now slightly past 10 cm or 4 inches. I know trying to grow a tree from a seed is a fool's errand (especially in the UK), but I figure with large enough numbers something will survive long enough to turn from a seedling into a sapling. What I need now is some expert opinions on how to take care of them so that they don't die.

hi anons, I'm good with plants but so far only in planters and pots, but we just bought a house with a front yard similar to pic related.A bit bigger but also surrounded by concrete on all sides, I was wondering how I could clean up the soil since it's been there for so long and the previous owners were doing some bullshit on it (it's got some spray painted stones and shit).I wanna turn it into a proper (if small) garden; should I remove all the soil and replace it or can I add new soil on top and pray? Should I mix it? Any type of soil?What about plants? I'd like to stay away from your standard lawn but rather add something pretty.

My idea of lettuce was that you plant once, just pick the outer leaves when needed and you’ll have year round lettuce with just a few of them, but after 10-20 times picking the outer leaves mine all start to rot form the outside, is that common?

Sure seems like a lot of work to grow the plant when I can go buy a metric ton of delta 8 at the head shop for nothing. I think delta 8 gives a better high than real weed anyway. I get the same comfortable and relaxed feeling but I dont run the risk of over doing it and developing a panic attack or just becoming a dysfunctional retard.

Brehs I had some of these bean leaf beetles come in and start eating my green bean and potato plants. I was told to use sevin dust and I did but I don't really know how to feel about using that kind of stuff.. I suppose it did the trick but is there anything natural I can make to repel insects like that in the future? I think next time I'll do trap crops/decoy plants in the future but besides that I'm wondering what else there is I could do

Not exactly traditional gardening, but I have some mushrooms I'm trying to grow and am not having luck. They're one of those prepacked grow kits, pink oysters. I have them in a tent with a bowl of water to provide humidity and have been misting but more than a week later I'm not seeing anything come out of them and it says they take a week to ten days on the box

not sure where i went wrong yet. i think it could either be that it's 80° where i'm running my system, the medium was too moist causing rot, or the lighting isn't right. fenugreek sprouted and is now brown, basil and lettuce haven't sprouted at all and it's been 9 days

I haven't got a clue what I'm doing but the beans in the square pot have produced a decent amount since I took this picture over a month ago now with an image!I got all the pesticides and chemicals from my mom and I don't really know what to do with them since I refuse to use chemicals

This summer, I have planted 5 tomatoes, 5 pumpkins, 3 cucumbers, a row of spinach, 100 strawberries and 1400 peas. I'm trying square foot gardening, so here are some planter boxes full of tasty peaness.I have tried growing leaf salad from seeds twice, but not a single one has ever sprouted. However, buying a potted salad from store, planting that, and then harvesting the outer leaves as it keeps on growing has been super successful, and just two of those have been steadily producing more salad than I can eat. Truly recommended, super productive even for a tiny space.

I bought a spider plant for half price because a bunch of its leaves were dying. I know absolutely nothing about plant care, except that spider plants are meant to be tough. I think I want to switch to a slow release fertilizer. 10/10/10. The thing is, measuring for the outside plants is easy. Is there some trick to telling how much I should be using on the small indoor pots? In fact, what do you all do for fertilizing? I can barely tell if it makes a difference except on my golden pothos Here's a butterfly

switched to better seed plugs and while they're in my garage also put an old aquarium chiller in-line as it was getting over 80° in there. everything pretty much insta-germinated overnight. couple lettuces, tiny tim tomato, fenugreek and basil. now to build another rail for tim and get the plans squared away for building the indoor "fridge"

anyone here ever tried the overseeding method for lawn transition? while i enjoy grass and don't mind its regular upkeep, my yard is full of 3 different kinds of shit grass + clover with moss in multiple areas. was looking at earthwise seeds (or related products) as a solution over the heavy labor process of removing it all and replacing with either sod or reseed. they make it sound like its little work and you just throw out their special seeds TM over the course of a few years but i'm aware of the labor needed in thatching and reseeding. i've been slowly removing areas as part of smaller annual projects but still have a large area to maintain. currently installing a irrigation system and shit is all torn up so come sept-ish i plan on doing a heavy thatch and reseed

i dont know much about plants but there was a few succulents i liked the look of. from reading things online it seemed they need low amounts of moisture and when looking up potting materials soil wasnt recommended, i bought some bonsai potting material from amazon which was a mix of "Akadama, Pumice, Lava Rock" and also perlite as i read that was good at providing aeration. i saw people saying to jsut use the rocks + a water fertiliser mix but that seemed stup to me since soil is fertilizer. so i made a mix of the potting mix, soil and perlite in a ratio of like 6 scoops bonsai / 3 scoops perlite and 2 scoops soil. the colour of this plant has darkened quite a bit in 2 days since i got it im scared it dying what do i do bros. i did buy some slow release succulent fertilizer but was scared of using it as i ead it makes them grow weird.also has anyone grown succlants from seed? i read theyre very hard to grow like that but have seen a bunch of seeds for nice looking succulents on ebay. makes me wonder thoguh a lot of the seller sell succlants and seeds but not ready grown succlants for the "rare" seeds they sell. are those varieties theyre selling seeds for near impossible to grow? why wouldnt they just sell the succulents if it was east

I have had issues growing grass in my backyard for years, every spring I would mix new soil and manure in and try a different type of grass and every fall it was a dirt pit again. last year I started composting to add to it too, well this year so far the grass was doing okay not great but there were a ton of some other kind of plant growing in with it, and I decided to let them grow to see what the hell they were. well, now I have like a hundred tomato plants with a little bit of grass in between them, my assumption is I messed up the compost. I don't know why I'm such a failure at grass but could accidentally end up with a big tomato garden, but I'm gonna just let them go to see what happens. no flowers yet, much less fruit, so I'll see how it goes

Tried growing herbs but I was gone in May and didn’t water them enough so the only thing left is my tomatoes I’m not sure how to do the cage so I put some chicken wire around it and I got some little twist wire that’s branded for tomatoes so here goes nothing They’re all about marble sized right now, maybe the biggest one is halfway to a golf ball

Peppers this year, as always. This is what I consider an "off year" where I don't need to mass produce my main stuff (cayennes, new mexicos). So I have 1 large container-based NM, 1 large container based cayenne. Both doing great. In the ground area I've got poblanos and guajillos. Guajillos seem to be doing ok, but the poblanos are really not impressing me. Also have a pasilla in a smaller container, which is just doing terrible.

I dug up a ridge of me spuds today (10 maris Piper plants and 1 pink) Swear to God I got the best yield I've ever seen. The pipers were about 18kg. More if I count the ones I threw out from pests ruining some which could had been around 4 kg give or take. The pink it's self gave me a small bag that you would get in the shop, About 2.5kgI don't like pipers though. I grew them for my parents and a grand aunt. I've 3 more ridges to dig (46 plants in total). I lazybedded them with clay soil which had sod, and put a layer of rotted down farmyard manure. I'm telling you, there's no way like the old way

I have a really huge one where I live and 2 other ones that are smaller and apparently bearing but I never really knew what to do with the fruit or rather really bothered looking into it. It looks like it's maybe two or three plants, so I figured I should try and separate it into their own pots. What's the best mix for these things? Hi /npk/, /jp/ hereCan any of you identify this tree outside my door in eastern Japan? Unfortunately it looks like it is seeing its final days at least to me, I'm wondering if this is normal behavior for it or if I should warn my landlord that it is in dire straits.Normally during summer it has tons of leaves and bright red bud-like flowers, but my landlord had a guy come by and trim literally everything off of it early this summer and it never really bounced back. It has some green shoots at its base but other than that it is very dry, sickly, and barren compared to previous years around this time of year.Thanks in advance for your help
