desu i think i might start trying to move away from using power tools entirely
i am SICK of hearing loud machines day in, day out
there is always always ALWAYS some yokel running a lawnmower or a leafblower or a chainsaw or some shit and there's never any chance to just hear the sounds of the wind and the birds
i don't want to contribute to that shit any more than i have to
also i'm tired of wearing ear and eye protection for every single operation
also i'm tired of breathing in sawdust and glue and shit. hand tools are just a lot less messy.
also the sun is gonna take out all the electricity globally soon and i want to be ready.power routers have been very useful for me in the past and there are times when i lament not owning one.

How much do yo have to cut? I do small jobs with a chisel or a Stanly No 45. But more than a few feet of cutting and the power tools are handy.

I used this tool for the first time when building a pair of speakers and nearly killed myself from the kickback which made the fucking this fly when i cut too deep and too fast. somehow the bit didn't fly off.
I like this tool.

there used to be a show that ran for a few years on PBS that was a guy who built some really nice furniture using pretty much only a router.
Stop being so spastic, calm the fuck down and learn to use the tool with some forethought and patience and you will be just fine. A router is one of the most handy tools you can use for the jobs it is intended for and for some jobs where it is an alternative to spending a lot more money for the right tool.

First couple routers I got as a kid were kind of scary. I was always scared of power tools until I got used to using them but routers only went from scary to tedious. The setup, never quite went right, like I made a jig to cut a mortice in a couple passes, cut lines stood out because depth changed. Why? Don't know.
Anyway, then I bought this little cheap shit 1/4 trim router on amazon. Some bullshit Chinese brand. Fucking love it. Any excuse to get it out. Door hinges, uh..... I think I cut a rebate for a desk with it....uh...that's it but I do have fun using it. One time I did try to take too big cut and the thing fucking snagged and flew out my hand lol, rocker switch so I baked the plug out the wall. Had to change my underwear but no harm no foul we forgave each other.
Every year or so I think oh this could do with a router table, look at inserts, decide I can do a different way without spending hundreds on kerg or whatever shite. Accessories are ruthlessly expensive. Yeah routers are alright desu.
