I reopened an old bucket of paint to redo some parts of the house. Is not white, but a very specific grey color. The type of paint is what we call 'calce'. Some calcium formula with pigments and water.
Unfortunately the paint stinks like sewer, but after making a test the paint is still perfectly good.
What is the cause of the smell? How can i get rid of it so i can reuse the paint without the bad smell?

bacteria growing in the water based paint. Paints that are low VOC and water based can grow bateria over time, especially if they've been opened.

it's something in the new acrylic paints. we had the same thing happen with stuff called Insox Cabinet Coat which is a water based urethane. painter opened up a 3 month old 5 gallon container and the whole jobsite smelled like piss. still probably less toxic than oil based so w/e.
