If artificial intelligence ends up being the result of a bubblegum-and-duct-tape assembly of computer modules and programs, do you think robots would have different cultural norms about brain/personality modification? Like, your consciousness is a kludge of 5000 github repositories. You remember "waking up" as they were installed one by one. Would having 5001 or 4999 really feel like a big deal? Would replacing righthanded.dll with lefthanded.dll be as casual of a change as buying a new hat?
