I've made this point before, but I'm fond of a Matriarchy that through male scarcity, actually winds up creating an enviornment that incidentally treats males "better". When some radfems like Andrea Dworkin analyze today's Patrairchy, or people hypothesize about a potential Matriarchy, they make the common misunderstanding where they assume that the power born from the oppression of one sex is equally shared by the members of the oppressor sex. In actuality, only a very small subsection of the oppressor group gains a benefit from the system that outweights the inherent costs. Women, while considerably marginalized in Patriarchal socities have a much higher inherent value and do not need to "prove their worth" in the same way a man of equal station would. In the Patrairchal socities of old fathers would send their sons off to war/danger to seperate the wheat from the chaff, giving the sons who would survive a much bigger slice of the pie while leaving the daughters in relative comfort. I do not believe there is any sense of "male solidarity" within Patriarchies, quite the opposite actually, and I'd like by Matriarchy to reflect that.My ideal Matriarchy follows this idea closely. In a world where women considerably outnumber men (anywhere from 1:4-1:10), all socities would have women monopolize all institutional power in a way eclipsing the most Patriarchal socities here, yet women would be far worse off in spite of it. More women means less men to go around, thus the women in power (heads of government, heads of civil/religious institutions, heads of households) would attempt to whittle down the population of lower-status females to gain more access to men. Women woudl believe that the more males would rebel against their female creators, the more chaos would appear, and whever a major drought/flood/earthquake/famine would appear, society would take its anger out on boys. I started looking into the etymology of words and learned some crazy stuff.
I used to think "woman" was derived from "man" in some way i.e being a modification of the word "man" reflecting the idea that women are seen as auxiliary to men in most cultures.Turns out females used to be called "wif" while males were referred to by "wer" or sometimes "wæp" (literally "weapon"). This whole etymology thing gives me an idea. A language where matriarchy is baked in. A context sensitive mess where words change their meaning based on the gender of the subject or object. For example, a word that means 'to lead' when applied to a woman becomes 'to follow' when applied to a man. 'Obedient' about a man becomes 'fierce' when used about a woman.
There are of course (irregular and clunky) constructions to describe, say, a woman who is commanded by another woman, or even weirder ones which specify a man receiving suggestions (not orders) from another man, but trying to talk about a man being in charge, or being capable in his own right (the everyday term for this would translate to 'well-led'), would sound like nearly gibberish to the average person.A man trying to peddle ideas like men having political power would not elicit outrage but rather yawns as he slowly stumbles his way through the syntactical minefield. And he can obviously forget about having something as simple as a slogan. Meanwhile anyone who sees what he is doing and wants to have a little fun can play stupid, pepper him with little questions and take him on tangents to tire him out. He would need to pause and take great care to avoid common phrases and shorthand that would contradict or undermine his argument. Their responses meanwhile would be short, snappy, idiomatic and 'just sound right.' Any disinterested party would conclude she was running circles around him, and probably pity the poor guy, though they would not have a word for it.

An exercise in worldbuilding for you anons:In an alternate timeline wherein human sexual dimorphism evolves to be more profound, women are different. An average young woman outweighs a man significantly due to her massive hips designed to facilitate significantly more reliable childbirth. After having birthed a child a woman's metabolism and hormonal production also plateau at a new high. Subsequently with every following pregnancy (and due to their accomodating stature an average woman can go through as much as 8-10 throughout her life without any health complications) they grow bigger and more muscular to the point of a slightly above average woman after 4 pregnancies being virtually an unreachable level of strength for men. Due to their biochemistry going crazy every time they get pregnant, women that had multiple children are pretty much voraciously hungry and more passionate and emotional than their younger counterpats. This is pretty much just a rough first draft of my ideas:
Facially, neoteny prevails among everyone. Body hair, facial hair, obesity, and skin blemishes are non-existent. The average woman has the appearance of someone in her mid-to-late teens (curvaceousness varies and height generally spans from 160-180 cm); the average man stops aging around his tween or early teen years (universally thin builds, heights mostly spanning from 130-160 cm).
Contraception is widely and easily accessible, and reproduction occurs only artificially (with elements of eugenics and gene editing). Women no longer having to physically bear children themselves was a key component in the total subversion and destruction of traditionalism. Sexual morality is no more, religion nothing more than the subject of ridicule (instead, the values that most people adhere to are combinations of reason, love, and beauty). Following this liberation, female preferences shifted towards heavily favoring androgyny. Ever since, new technological advances have been employed to make reality match said new ideal of male delicate youthfulness.
Personality-wise, most girls are strong-willed and cool tomboys, while boys are reserved, gentle, and fragile. Behavioral sterotypes and expectations are the inverse of those in our world. Fashion styles are not uniform, but what's notable is that boys show much more skin than in our world, with short shorts being most common.
There are no legal inequalities, but in the vast majority of cases, you will find the woman to be the dominant party in a relationship.
