It is located in a mall close to my house.
Everytime I go there there is nothing interesting to get.

My local comic shop is across state, so I usually visit once a year.
The regular patrons are all there for TCGs, and if you're there to buy anything that isn't a new comic or a wad of gum, you have to stand by and wait for the clerk to call the owner and ask him to scan eBay for the latest scalper prices on whatever old graphic novel it is I picked up

Mine's at the local mall, but recently they moved from a much longer spot to a tiny single square that only now sells new release floppies, some trades, and action figures. They moved all their dozens of back issue boxes to another mall that's like an hour away from here.

Off-beat, cozy, and mostly frequented by dudes twice my age. They have a special sale where they’ll offer old floppies for $1 every Wednesday, but the bins are 90% forgotten 90s crap (and not the good kind). There’s still some good stuff in there— lesser works of Gerber’s, a surprising amount of JLI issues, the occasional decent book that somehow hasn’t been scooped up yet— but it usually isn’t my type, so I just go and sniff around the mountain of longboxes near the front instead. I don’t go there too often due to scheduling conflicts and nearby construction, but hopefully when those are both cleared up I’ll do it more often. There’s another LCS, farther away from the one I just described, that’s part of a chain and much more “professional.” It’s frequented mostly by hood niggers and the stinkiest MtG players you’ll ever smell. I try to avoid it if I can.

It's pretty fucking cool lol, mainly cause the owner and employees are anti social cucks so I can pretty much get away with whatever in there LOL I've cursed people out, I've "accidentally" gotten food on one kids mtg deck (it's also a card shop), I've fucking edged myself under my table before through my shorts and they literally do nothing LOL I like it, it's like my personal little kingdom to play mtg and read comics.

All the comicbookstores in my area have closed or moved away.
Marvel makes their sells by forcing shops to pay for bundles with included comics that would likely not sell so they force you to buy the bundle if you want the shit that does sell.Fuck the mouse.

There was this book store i always went on my way to the university. It was a small, modest and sincere store, the books where on cardboard boxes wrapped with green paper with note papers saying which genre they where.
The owner looked like the dad from coraline, real nice guy, always bought books in there with the little money i had. A bunch of the comics were 90's and 2000's stories and my favorite purchase was this small recompilation book with Superman stories as the owner was visibly happy that somebody a Superman book which might explain the amount of mohawk Supes stories.

Used to have one near my school called Bailey's Comic, or something like that. They used to have a wide selection, but very few mint condition items. I think at some point they also sold videos games, but this was in the mid-90s.

My LCS has two entire tables of boxes of old comics all for under $2 each so every time I go there I get a bunch of the old Dell or Gold Key Looney Tunes comics because that is all I care about. Not a bad store all things considered.

A
Anon10/23/26, 23:58No.156020877
They closed down because no one was buying comics.

there's not a LCS near me, the closest one is like 2 hours away, I went last weekend but there was a furry convention going on, I bought a Judy keychain and some stickers of this thing because it reminds me of /co/

I've got my pull box at this place that's main winning quality is that it's like 5 minutes from my house, with only two stop lights between us. It's a small place, a little cluttered, and doesn't offer anything like tabletop play or social activities. (Which honestly, is kinda a good thing.) They sell Pokemon cards and the occasional card boxes, but by and large it's comics and a limited selection of statues and toys. The staff has changed a lot, but are nice. Most of why I've stayed through all of the changes is the convenience, though. They've fucked up my orders all the time. There's other, bigger stores with more back issues and such. What I hate for the most part is that they treat so many transactions like making a buck. I know they're operating a business, but the constant upselling and checking of eBay's sales to make sure they're not losing out on a potential dime despite what's on the sticker is pretty annoying.

Two comic shops that closed in my hometown.
First one was primarily TCG, and what introduced me and my older brother to MtG (Kamigawa+Mirrodin+Ravnica).
Second one moved to three different locations, including my hometown, before shutting down. It was full of libtard shit, but the owner was a nice guy.
Oh well... しょうがない.

I live in a city of around 68,000 people. My city has 2 comic stores, as well as 1 dedicated board game/TCG store that doesn't sell comics.I was just at one of the comic stores today, the owner is a nice guy, he gives me discounts. It sells new comics and back issues. However, it really doesn't have a good selection of back issues. Nearly all of the back issues are modern age, and he doesn't set aside key issues. Besides comics, he sells trade books, RPG books, TCGs, and board games.Store #2 is kind of a dump. It's a "hoarder store" with a ton of new comics and back issues. There are some key issues for sale, manga, and TCGs for sale. There are also some thrift and antique stores that sell back issues.

They've gone, sir. They've all gone. And I fail to understand how most of the businesses that replaced them make any more money than they did. One is a witch's supply store and another is a perpetually closed poke place. How the hell are they selling poke if they're never even open?
There are two that opened but I've not been to either. One is in a former warehouse in the industrial part of town and the other is in an area I never go to or pass through so I've no incentive to go there unless my son decides he wants to take fencing lessons. There's a fencing gym next door. My sister-in-law used to live nearby but she got married and moved.

Mine is great. The week to week stock pulls from a surprising amount of publishers beyond just the Big Two, the back is absolutely stocked to the gills and well-sorted, they have constant sales and discounts, and they'll bag and board for free. They also really went in on games since the pandemic, and they're just as good on having a wide variety of even more niche stuff and being extremely good bargainsThere's also a second location where they stock a lot more trades and manga alongside the Warhammer supplies, and there's two unrelated stores for games and toys respectively that sell a pretty big selection and for decent prices as well, so I'm spoiled for choice.

Been around forever, the owner was skinny with glasses but acted like Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons in a lot of ways. Bragged about scamming kids out of their Pokemon cards. But that was back in the early 2000s, he eventually had a kid (who now helps run the shop) and seems to have mellowed out. Nice guy overall, even if he came off as a bit prickly and condescending at times. The shop itself is fairly standard mix of comics, used games, manga, cards and toys. Nice selection, a little disorganized and messy but in a way that makes it more appealing to hang out there. Feels like digging through your garage sometimes.

Anon10/25/26, 04:38No.156040762
It was always a more generalist nerd hobby store with various tabletop games alongside the comics, but in the last few years the comic aspect became almost vestigial post-lockdown as two investor types bought a 50% stake, moved it into a larger building and began pivoting focus to Magic the Gathering and more recently converting Tabletop private rooms into streaming space for general card speculation/sale streams.
Which over said years has driven out longtime staff and with them a lot of the store side comics culture and is slowly killing the floor level business. So most comic readers just have accounts with their pull list and only come in to just grab those comics.
Its kinda a downer vibe in there as all the cool dudes have been replaced with apathetic teenagers or the card shark owners while the original owner is tapped out and mostly just shows up to play D&D with his buddies on the TTRPG night, hell even the TCG players have started leaving because things have become so shit.
In retrospect the moment that the grognard greybeard on staff who did custom doodles of various cape characters for all their tags and sections quit, was the warning sign nobody heeded because of how nice the bigger location was.

My LCS is run by a bunch of extremely woke freaks, which makes me wonder why I still patronize them. But, they have a pretty good selection; I just have to ignore the shelf full of LGBTPDQBBS+ consciousness junk.

small place in a part of a upper middle class/rich neighborhood close to downtownguy that owns it is really chill, lets me do trade ins for store credit often. he is knowledgeable and has his distinct tastes in comics, which is important because i've talked to people in comic shops that don't give a fuck about comics at all, they just own a businessthe store is just down the street from his son's school, so his son walks in from school from time to time. it's crazy because i remember when that kid was a toddler and now he's probably almost out of elementarythe other LCS i would possibly go to is in another state near my parents house. that place is popular and the owner has been marking kids' height at a doorway, almost feels like a family there
