Anonymous01/04/26, 12:08No.10966441When did cosplaying start getting invaded by former models and fitness athletes?
>Late 20s cosplayer who was active pre pandemic and did fanservice cosplays
>Pre Pandemic, most cosplay girls(even the ero ones) where definitely nerds, hot girls who found an outlet and overall it felt more authentic
>2025? I go to a con and the popular or attractive girls are either failed models, athletes, fitness addicts who are trying to make it big in the cosplay and anime world by being an influencer

what cons do you people go to?
from what I've seen, many cosplayers still have regular jobs and are generally just average people funding their own cosplays, with a few being lucky enough to get donations

That's only an issue on social media. The main difference compared to the last decade is that now most people wear premade chinese costumes, but there are still passionate people who will happily converse about costume making.

Blame western media being so shit that it drove normies and casuals to look at anime

Not everyone is a disgusting fat slob like you, moid. Cosplay has always had beautiful fit people cosplaying their favorite characters.

Normie girls figured out our nerd girl's game of farming us dork guys for attention and perhaps a living. There used to be a term: "Convention hot". Average dorky girls who were hot because they were cosplaying a sexy/beloved character at a convention of guys who knew they weren't prime cuts of meat themselves.Once upon a time, society was more balanced in 'looks-matching'. Average dork girls were courted by average dork guys and some future dorks were eventually spawned and raised in dork families and all was right in the world. Then the Fire Nation atta--Jokes aside the more desirable humans realized there was virgin (literally) ground to explore and exploit. A socio-sexual niche to fill.
Society (thanks social media) now promotes everyone chasing the absolute pinnacle of their desired sex and nowhere is sacred, every space is now a stage to try and rut. No reservations for the more vulnerable life. Dorks skitter desperately to avoid being stomped on by the giant paws of the 10s, their hopes of getting a date or enjoying their dork hobby shattered like the social ground beneath the feet of these heedless megafauna.I've noticed it in every space initially set up by society's less than top tier potential dates. Sooner or later the more attractive normies start infiltrating. Chad so he can farm easy attention and ONS' from the girls, and Stacys so they can farm male attention from all-too-eager guys, and maybe promote their pics/videos for hard cash, etc.

>Pre Pandemic
The failed models meta was already a well-established thing by the mid-2010's when I started going to cons. By that point, people like Yaya Han and Jessica Nigri were already old faces on their way out. That one cosplayer doing Quiet from MGSV that kept being annoyed by nerds trying to take pics of her (I think that's what she was upset by? I don't remember for sure anymore) was from before the coof.

Geninely dorky women are all trooning or lezzing out
I was at ECCC this weekend and it was fucking grim how many older girls/younger women (like age 12-13 through early 20s) were introducing themselves as "boys" or walking around in pairs as couples. Even if they were dressed as a female character, they'd introduce themselves as the other girl's "boyfriend." Just a straight up feminine looking girl, not masc presenting in any way.
Five, ten years ago it didn't used to be like this at all, what happened?

I would also contend that it has less to do with the presence of hot "normie" women and more with the presence of social media itself and the shift in culture toward hypersexualization. It's not just the athletes and models that thirst trapEven look at how things have changed on 4chan. It used to be that posting nudes/lewds of yourself was a rare treat, done as a thrill and a bit of fanservice. Now any time a chick drops pics she also drops her discord (which IS social media) and can immediately gain like half a dozen thirst simps to start cultivating. I'm not trying to bring blackpilled incel ideas into the conversation but social media's ability to funnel attention towards women exhibiting sexuality has been disastrous for all kinds of reasons.

I'd kill myself if I was a moment and I realised I wasted my life not whoring out. You can make so much money cosplaying, methinks OP has sour berries

Society will only get better looking and standards will rise. The uglies will be left in the factories and attractive people will become the new high-class.

Something I think a lot of millennials still dont realize is anime and cosplay arent subculture anymore like it was when you grew up, that world you grew up in doesnt exist anymore.
Pandemic accelerated things yes but you have to be a genuine retard if you couldnt see the shifting tide beforehand.
It isnt some obscure nerdy interest its just plain culture at this point with all that carries with. Which unfortunately in this day and age also includes lots of IG, OF, tiktok and other such engagementslop. They didnt change just to target some niche hobby, the world around you changed and you failed to notice.
