Context matters. If my government were to deploy armed defensive forces in my city out of the blue right now, my immediate thought would be that there is some kind of terrorist threat they are there to fend off. My government has given me no reason to think they are there for ulterior motives.
Now if my country was run by a dictatorship-enthusiast who gets more deranged by the day, I would feel VERY different about that same situation. That's where you are right now. And if you don't see that, I don't know what could possibly save you. Your president is a Saturday morning cartoon villain.
