Marxism aka communism does work and there are lots of examples of it working well through out history. The catch is that it only works well in societies at the roughly agrarian level. Marxism fails once a group gains some sort of production efficiency over another group (steel weapons, steam power, gunpowder, internet, control of currency). At that point, those groups stratify into capital holders/authoritarian class and worker class.Big C Communism ala central planning will never work because 1.) people are less perfect than markets at allocating resources to places of need/desire and 2.) people make decisions based on self-serving need rather than altruism.
