I don't have a recording of it and I'll try to get it but here is something my two dogs do and I want to know if stopping the one dog that does it is the correct move. >dogs get far apart >one begins to stare at the other >gets in a weird crouch like he is stalking >other dog is staring back >my other dog begins to move >the dog that is in a weird crouch rushes at dog >my other dog looks like he is running for his life >my other dog catches him and grabs him by the scruff >other dog shows him his belly >but other dog drags him by his scruff I interrupted it here but it was so weird why the hell did my other dog do that to him? They're both males and neutered but it felt weird seeing it like doesn't a dog stop any sort of aggression when the other shows it's belly?

New to /an/ but wanted to ask; there's a dog on my street who I say hello to at the fence when I pass if she's there. Not sure what breed, she's kind of medium-large sized but kind of short and stocky, but VERY boofy with non-flowy, straight long hair, kind of makes me think of an Akita but smaller and a different face. We're going into Spring here now so things are warming up and she's clearly shedding a whole lot of undercoat, like today I pulled a whole second dog off her coat in about 10 minutes with my fingers and that was barely the start of it. She made it very clear she wanted me to keep going but I had to go at that point. This has happened in previous years too; the owners don't neglect her exactly but they definitely need to brush her or get her groomed and they just don't. Anything I can realistically do? Should I even do anything? I really don't want to directly contact the owners at all.

my 12 year old dashund/pomeranian mix had what appears to be either a seizure or a stroke last night around 8pm est. Just suddenly started limping towards me with one of his legs being unusable. He drooled on me the entire drive to the ER and had to do an overnight stay. He's alert and able to bark now, but he still can't walk properly.. he's at his actual vet currently. He was completely healthy before all of this happened.. I really hope he can recover and this was just a horrible one off incident.

Anyone have experience with Guardian Dogs? If you were to have a farm in the woods where wolves,bears, or big cats are an issue what dog would you choose that's the best compromise for protection and also being friendly to friends and family? I havent been around many, but anatolian shepards and Polish tatras seemed to do well on both counts Anyone have input on if Rhodesian ridgebacks can be a good option for this? I recently adopted an older dog who is two years old from an elderly family member that passed. The dog is trained on basics but one thing I noticed is he doesn't like being left alone which is something I want to hopefully help him overcome. Hello people, I was wondering if any of you also feel guilt in being responsible for their dogs' lives, my dogs are getting old, tomorrow one of them will have a leg amputated because of osteosarcoma and I know it's the best to take the pain away even if the cancer will probably perdure but I can't shake off the feeling that I'm not giving them their best life, I try to take them out daily and play even if I rarely feel like doing so, they're my family's first dogs so we did some errors while trying to raise them like not pushing them to socialize or teach them some skills, now I also feel like their days are numbered and I don't know what to do to make their existence fullfilling (even if probably they don't really care about that) I don't really have much money or time since I'm trying to finish my studies, did anybody ever feel like that? what should I think/do? it's eating me

For those of you with both a dog and a cat, have you found a way to get them to get along?
