I'm using a 3D into 2D sprite workflow
as far as I can tell, matcaps give me better results in less time compared to real-time lighting. left is rendered, right is matcap
the only catch is that I can only use one matcap at a time, so if something has metal armor for example, I can't have my regular matcap and metal simultaneously
is there a way around this?
the only way I can think of is doing two sets of renders, one for color and the other for metal, then manually overlaying the metal sections, like so, but this would be time consuming when making entire sprite sheets
